NAROK.

A digital home for years of scholarly writing on the Quran — etymology, philological analysis, and original commentary. A long-form publishing platform with a deep topic taxonomy, multi-language reading, and a calm, contemplative reading experience that honors the source material.

About the project

// 2 min read

Narok is the digital home for years of philological and theological work by its author — readings of the Quran, etymological analysis tracing the word "narok" itself across Arabic and Russian, and original commentary anchored in classical sources. Before our involvement, the work lived where serious independent scholarship usually lives: scattered across documents, scanned PDFs, and a basic CMS that couldn't carry the depth of cross-referencing the material needed.

01Etymology page — the source word, traced across Arabic and Russian

We rebuilt it as a full publishing platform — React on the front, Laravel on the back. The site is structured around a topic taxonomy that lets a reader move from a high-level theme — signs, agreements, history, the Initiator — into the author's specific articles, with footnotes and inline cross-references that link back across the corpus. Translation is a first-class feature: every article has a parallel-language switch built into the URL, so a reader can move between language editions without losing their place.

The Laravel admin is the author's editorial workspace — drafting, scheduling, the topic tree, the moderation of reader feedback, all in one place, with image-rich article layouts that preserve the contemplative pacing of the original work. New analyses can be published without touching code, and the multilingual fields sit side by side rather than in two parallel CMS workflows.
