QUEUE.

An electronic queue for the Kazakh National Agrarian University's dean's office. Students scan a QR poster in the hallway, pick the topic of their visit, get a ticket — and stop crowding the corridor. A QR module, an operator module, and a hallway display board, all wired through Laravel and a thin JS layer with WebSocket-based live updates.

About the project

// 2 min read

Walk into the dean's office at the Kazakh National Agrarian University on a Monday morning and you'll find forty students waiting in a hallway, three operators working through them, and no clear way for anyone to know who's next. Same scene every week — academic questions, scholarship paperwork, hostel allocations, document requests, all queued together by show-of-hands. The dean's team asked for an electronic queue.

We built it as three pieces — a QR module that students scan from a hallway poster and use to take a ticket; an operator module that each staff member runs at their window to call the next number; and a public display board mounted in the corridor that shows the current ticket paired with the operator window. Everything runs on Laravel with a thin JS layer for live updates, so the display board redraws the moment an operator clicks Call Next — no refresh, no delay.

01

QR module

Student scans a poster, opens a phone-friendly page, picks the topic of their visit, gets a ticket number. They can leave the queue and come back when they're up.

For the student
02

Operator module

Per-operator login. Sees current and next ticket, clicks Call Next when free. Filters by service so each window only handles its assigned topics.

For the staff
03

Display board

Large screen mounted in the hallway. Current ticket → operator window, refreshing in real time. Time and date on the side panel; faculty branding on top.

An admin layer sits behind everything: it's where the dean's team configures operators (which window, which login, which services they handle), audits the ticket history, and reads the analytics — average wait time per faculty, peak-hour patterns, no-show rates. Useful for rebalancing staff between busy and quiet windows when the term cycle shifts.
